Maggie's Wake: From Tradition to Creation, a Workshop
Multiple award-winning Maggie's Wake invites you into a creative workshop that bridges tradition and innovation. Rooted in the rich history of traditional music, this session explores how familiar melodies and songs can be reimagined through modern arrangements, fresh harmonies, and contemporary rhythmic ideas.
Participants will learn how to honour the essence of traditional tunes while shaping them into something new, dynamic and distinctly their own. Drawing from their own repertoire, Maggie's Wake will also share how traditional melodies have influenced their original compositions, offering insight into their creative process.
Whether you're a seasoned player or simply curious, this workshop offers inspiration, practical tools and fresh perspective on the evolving sound of traditional music.

Shawn Hogan LIVE at the Courthouse Theatre
Originating from Mill River, PEI, Shawn Hogan spent a decade performing and producing in Toronto before FINALLY returning to the Maritimes. He's made three consecutive national television appearances at the Halifax Comedy Festival, been a featured comedian on CBC Radio's Laugh Out Loud and The Debaters, and was hand-picked to open for Gerry Dee on his national Best Medicine Tour.
This July, Hogan brings his one-person show to the Courthouse Theatre for the first time — kicking off the historic venue's 2026 comedy season in St. Peters Bay! Fresh off a debut album recording and drawing on stories from his “DearPEI” community fundraising tour, expect a night of laughs and stories that span the full arc of his career: a mix of the material that's earned its place on stage, along with brand new works in development being performed live for the first time.
The Courthouse Theatre is one of PEI's greatest venues, and this show will surely be worth the drive!
